Catching Up

Since I have some down time, for the next 24+ hours, I thought I'd update our family blog. I have come down with a sinus infection and Cat is hanging with her grandma this evening. Not sure when she will be coming home...

To finish off the summer, we went to Utah for a few days to hang with the Fewkes family. Cat and Aiden had a blast hanging together, when they weren't getting on each others nerves. We got to play with baby Aaron and Ms. Alyssa. We love getting to see our family, just bummed that we don't get to see them as often as we'd like.

Catarina started 1st grade at the end of August. We keep going over speed bumps with her were staying green at school is concerned. She has become a "monkey see, monkey do" person. So we have had a few lessons about that. She is also learning that she needs to slow down when doing her work so that it is correct instead of done in a hurry so she can go play. (I seem to remember doing that as a kid too, as does her father).
I was called as Primary President at the end of August and got to have a bigger part in the Primary Program this year. We had our Pizza Party Practice the Friday night before and had Ice Cream Sundaes the last hour of Primary after the program. We have a really fun bunch of kids and I have awesome counselors.

Catarina got her first pedicure on Sept 16th. She wasn't sure about it at first, but loved it at the end and wants another one. Next time we need to take some pillows for her back. The chairs are meant for adults; not kids...

October already promises to be a really fun month. Will post pics when I have a spare moment, again.

Karate Testing

Cat had her karate testing today too. It's been a big day for her. She is now a purple belt.

Swimming Lessons

Cat had her first swimming lesson of the summer today. We put her in the youth class so that she will actually learn to swim. She was in the big pool today and it kinda scared her. She was cute tho!

Disneyland 06/10/10

After picking Cat up from school we went to Disneyland to celebrate her Kindergarten Graduation. Here are a few pics from our day together.

Introducing...

Introducing the newest member of our family!

After 8 years of faithful service, my 2000 Mazda Protege decided to call it quits. It must have been all of those trips to Disneyland...kidding. We took her to the dealer to diagnose the problem and it turns out that the one of the cyllanoids in the transmission failed. The cost for the repairs that were needed cost more than the car was worth, so we had to make a tough decision. This decision was not taken lightly. It was hard enough that we both didn't sleep the night before. We prayed about it and decided that the best thing for us to do is to purchase a new car.

We went to the Mazda Dealer to decide what to do with old Midnight Blue. The dealer mostly wanted our service bill paid, which was $95. We thought about it, walked around the lot, and decided to look at Chevrolet. I had seen the Malibu's online and thought they might be okay. We went over to the dealer and looked at the cars. I just didn't like them. I tried hard to like them, but I couldn't. We went to McDonald's for lunch and talked about options. In the mean time, Dan was in contact with his uncles trying to get us a really good deal on a Chevy Malibu, plus we could use our GM dollars.

Long story short, we went back to the Mazda dealer and test drove Graphite. She's a beauty, inside and out. I fell in love with her; Dan did too, especially the Bose sound system. I was happy about the sunroof...something I have wanted since I was in high school. We decided to lease her because the payments would be under $300, which in important to us right now given all the money the State has taken from us. In the end, we will buy her, but couldn't at this time. So, we are proud to introduce Graphite. =)

The Tucker Wedding

Randi and Catarina
I volunteered to do Randi and Shane's flowers for their wedding. Their colors were Kiwi Green, Black and White. A few months ago we went to LA to the flower district to see what we could see. Randi decided she wanted green roses... I'd never heard of them and one place had them. I ordered the flowers two weeks in advance, like the guy wanted, and when I went to pick them up, he was gone! I couldn't believe it. So, now managing to find green roses was beginning to pose difficult... Fortunately, I found two vendors who had them. They weren't the best condition, but under the circumstances I didn't have much of a choice. So, after all of that drama, I put all of the flowers together and delivered them to the temple and the reception site. Randi and Shane were very pleased with the flowers. Makes me happy since I was a wreck with the quality of the green roses. Here are a few pics from the wedding.

Disneyland 04/21/10

We went down to Disneyland after Cat got out of school on the 21st. It also just happened to be our 10 year anniversary. We had a good time hanging with Jeff & Laura and their boys, oh and Gary & Dianne and Kelly and her boys. What a crowd of peeps. lol.
